ALERT: Pre-Paid Gift Card Scam

Alamo does not issue or accept gift cards to secure a rental. Only Pre-paid gift cards with a Visa, Mastercard or Amex symbol will be accepted at the END of the rental for payment; NEVER required at reservation and payment information is NEVER requested over the phone. 

Please be aware of these signs leading to potential fraud:

• Typically targets individuals searching for a phone number to book a car rental, or to extend an existing car rental.
• Once the number is called, the most common theme is the offer of a time-sensitive promotion that can be taken advantage ONLY with a pre-paid gift card.
• Other offers have been detected within the scam, but nearly all involve asking the customer to buy a gift card or pre-paid card to pay for their rental over the phone.

If you encounter any of these situations when you call to book your rental, please do not proceed and report the incident and phone numbers to your local police and/or file an online complaint with www.ic3.gov (Internet Crime Complaint Center.)
